"So what does food and drink have to do with art?" you ask. I say, Does it really matter?  I've refreshed and indulged at some great places in my travels.  Great food has added to some great openings.  You know you're interested.

Monterrey, Mexico- Tacos Fede- This restaurant is a legend among some of my friends and it lived up to the hype.  A small, but excellent menu with unique atmosphere.  If you want authentic mexican food and a little adventure- this is the place to go.

Waikiki, O'ahu, Hawaii- Orchids at Halekulani Hotel-
This amazing ocean front restaurant in an amazing hotel is definitely a treat/splurge. It has an electic menu with asian, hawaiian and tropical influences.  The food and service is tops.  Add to that the ocean breeze and the traditional hawaiian musicians and dance to make for a memorable experience.

Tybee, Georgia- Sting Ray's- Great local seafood (we had crab balls and a steamed dish) and fabulous Margaritas.  They have an enclosed porch that was nice, even on a February night.  Relaxed and fun.

Metter, Georgia- Crabby Joe's-  This "road less traveled" restaurant is about half way between Atlanta and Savannah.  They serve hush puppies with a side of cinnamon butter (sure you'll only have one).  I had a savory grilled fish sandwich while I looked out over the adjacent pond.

Asheville, North Carolina- Westville Pub- This great little bar & restaurant has specializes in local beers (their slogan- Think Globally, drink locally).  They also have a variety of food options- ginger teriaki wings (crispy and tender), sandwiches and entrees with meat/ vegetarian/ vegan options, with influences from carribean, to asian to southern mountain.

Cincinnati, Ohio- Krishna Indian-
This hole in the wall indian is a great deal, good flavor and they deliver. Melt- sandwiches, soups, salads (they do halvies, so you can try more without feeling bad)  and a fab sunday brunch.  Small and eclectic- they have a variety of fare to accomidate any dietary need and they do it well.  The menu has lots of seasonal items, so there's always something new to try like whole grain waffles with peach compote!

North Shore, O'ahu, Hawaii- Romy's Shrimp-
You probably can see the theme developing here- cheap good eats.  This is no exception.  On the picturesque North Shore this and other shrimp and prawn walk up restaurants are set amidst mountains and shrimp ponds.  Take out or eat at their picnic tables they have several options for sauces.  Again a simple, but well done menu.
